Day 79b - Belly Pics

I was trying to convince both boys to let me take a belly pic but only Jeremy was willing. DH grabbed the camera and insisted I have one taken too (wet hair and all). I am 20 weeks.

Day 79a - Cute!

Aren't these two cute?

Day 78 - Who's the boss?

While the dog has made peace with the cat in the house, rules are completely different outside. Poor Spike.

Day 77 - My Birthday

Saving a spot for the pic my Mom promised she'd send me.

Day 76 - Pre Birthday Party

So March 19th is my birthday. My MIL and SIL surprised me the day before with flowers and cake. I was still wearing my work scrubs as they are the most comfortable thing to wear with the every growing baby belly.

Day 75b - 19w3d Anatomical Ultrasound

Day 75 (which was actually March 17th if you're keeping track). I had baby's anatomical ultrasound at 19w6d. It was a last minute decision but in the end I decided not to find out the sex. Sorry Scott, Oma and Aunt Megan.

At the end when the tech was showing us and taking pictures for us baby had fallen asleep and would not wake-up. In the pictures it shows how baby was sleeping with his/her hands stretched far above his/her head, back curled and legs straight as an arrow extending past his/her head. Obviously completely oblivious to what was going on in the outside world. Doesn't that sound like sheer bliss?

When I told my brother that he figures it must be a boy.

Day 75a - Homework

I suppose I should be encouraging Jeremy to establish good habits and do his homework at a table or desk. Mind you I'm of the frame you work where you feel comfortable.
Christopher took a serious interest in Jeremy's homework too. Cute!

Day 74b - Spring Fever, two pics

Spike, our 9ish month old kitten, has spring fever. He's VERY difficult to keep in the house even though I'd prefer him to be a strictly indoors cat. Here's a pic of Houdini.

The boys also had the Jeep out for the inaugural spring drive. They've been itching all winter to drive it but it doesn't get enough traction in the snow. They love that toy.

Day 74a - Two Green Shirts with Explination

The day before St Patricks Day Jeremy (who's almost 5) brought me two green shirts. I've suspected for years that he's colour blind. Last summer his Optomitrist had him look at the test. Technically Jeremy was too young to test but based on his results I'm certain he's standard red/green colour blind.
Interestingly so is his father. If you remember back to highschool biology red/green colour blind is an x-linked trait. Which means Jeremy got his from me. Mom and I didn't know about any family history but we asked and apparently my Mom's Mom had an uncle who was. So it's been silently passed down through the females.
Even more interestingly (for a genetics geek like me). If Scott and I ever have a daughter she will have a 50% chance of being red/green colour blind which is a very rare thing in a female.

Day 73b - Child Labour

Two posts today to make up for some of the days I've missed.

Christopher wanted to play with my sewing machine. Do you think I could hire him? I might actually catch up with some sewing with his help. He's even grubby like you'd expect child labour to be. I'm sure he'd work for candy. LOL.

Day 73a - Early St Patricks Day

Even though I'm late posting this. Jeremy had his face painted at daycare to celebrate St Patricks Day a few days early.

Day 72 - Our Poor Fence

Here's the story. I was home alone (for once) attempting to surf the net but had to slip into the basement to reset the network. Two minutes later I'm back, look out the back window and see a 4 wheeler/ATV/quad very stuck in the mud and clearly see our fence has been damaged. My immedate response is to blame the 12 year old who lives next door. I went out to see. It wasn't a kid, it was an adult male, considerably older than me. He is the brother of our two doors down neighbour. He was trespassing, clearly going too fast for the ultra muddy conditions and his experience level, lost control and crashed through our less than 6 month old fence. He said he'd pay but we're not holding our breath.

Day 71 - Another Miss

On a Saturday even. I don't know what's gotten into me.

Day 70 - Spring Swing

Nothing says spring like an early spring swing. Complete with the reminants of our icerink in the background and the boys new rubber boots.

Day 69 - Spring Gear

Today I dug through my clothing stash and found some spring gear for the boys. Notice the winter boots and mittens. It's still early spring. Now it's off to shop for the missing peices.

Day 67 & Day 68 - Misses

I think I'm loosing momentum.

Day 68 - Something pointy

Another weekly challenge. Don't ask me why but this is what came to mind when I heard the something pointy challenge. The picture doesn't do the scale of the light fixture justice, but when viewed directly from the bottom, it's just a fancy version of the standard nipple light.

Day 67 - Something Cardboard

I've fallen behind in my weekly challenges. I missed the something cardboard one. Here it is. We only get recycling collected every two weeks. So double the amount pictured here. Yes we need a better system, I miss having a garage.

Day 66 - New toy

To go with my lighbox I bought myself a tripod. There are so many to choose from, I hope I choose the right one.

Day 65 - Lightbox

I finally splurged and bought myself a light box to help improve my Etsy pictures. What was the first thing the boys did with it? Maybe I could use it to take pictures of them too.

Day 64 - My trailer park meal

I joke that this is my trailer park meal because it uses Mr Noodles. Sounds weird I know but it's super yummy, a family fav.

1 pre-cooked pork tenderloin cut into bite size pieces (or sub any meat you want or leave it out)
3 lg carrots thinly sliced
3 pkgs Oriental Mr Noodles
3 cups of water
1 green pepper cut into small peices
3 green onions cut into small peices

Over med heat in a large frying pan with a lid, either cook or warm pre-cooked meat.
Add carrots with a bit of water and cook until barely tender.
Add Mr Noodles and water. Cook until noodles are soft but slightly under cooked.
Add green pepper and continue to took for 1 min.
Add green onions and serve. Noodles should be soft but not overcooked.

Day 63 - Fire!

It's been a long cold two weeks. We stopped using our fireplace because SO much smoke was coming into the house. We had the chimeny cleaned on this day and apparently it was nearly completely plugged. No wonder we had so much smoke in the house. Our fire is much happier now and so are we. There's nothing like the warmth of a wood fire.

Day 62 - Sleeping Beauty

At times Jeremy is a very deep sleeper. It's not unusual for him to fall asleep on the drive home from daycare. Allow me to carry him into the house, take off his boots and have him continue to sleep for multiple hours, even though we try to wake him up for supper, etc. Yes this is the same kid who gave up his nap at just over 2 years of age.

Day 61 - New Mailbox

Do you remember the old Ikea commercial with the lamp sitting at the curb discarded and sad. That's what I feel like we've done to our old mailbox. It was much needed though. I present you our new mailbox.

Day 60 - Patio Doors

Since we moved in I've been trying to figure out what kind of window covering to put on the patio doors. We need something to cut the glare on the TV which is particularly bad at this time of the year. Decisions, decisions.

Day 59 - Gold!

Today we were glued to the TV watching hockey as the Canadian men played the USA. It was a close game but Canada won. Yeah! DH and I also watched the closing ceremonies. We're sad to see the Olympics finish.

Eight years ago team Canada played team USA in Salt Lake City for mens hockey gold metal. Scott was a student at Brock, living in St Catherines. I was a student at Michener, living in Toronto. As soon as the game ended he drove me to catch the go train, and I took it, then the subway, then a streetcar to get to my place. It was like the whole country was partying. From kids standing on their lawns waving flags to a HUGE party in downtown Toronto. It was amazing to see.

Day 58 - Our Poor Mailbox

As the winter has progressed our mailbox has looked worse and worse. It is barely hanging on now and I'm sure our mail person is afraid it's going to fall on him/her with every delivery.
